Undergraduate Renewals

Dates & Deadlines

Application Opens: April 11, 2024
The Priority Processing deadline is June 30 to receive notification by July 15.

Important: If you miss the priority processing deadline you can still submit a renewal application, however you may not receive notification until after your college/university fee bill is due. 
 
Applications submitted by July 31 will receive notification by August 15. Late renewal applications will be accepted through September. 

Current Scholars are eligible to reapply through the online Undergraduate Renewal Application. Renewal applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Students can reapply for up to five academic years, however renewals are not automatic.  

You should apply through the Undergraduate Renewal Application if you: 

  1. Previously received a scholarship from the American Savings Foundation and
  2. Have not received your 1st bachelors degree

Required Documents:  

  • 2024-2025 FAFSA Submission Summary (instructions here)
  • Loan History from FAFSA (instructions here)
  • 2024-2025 Financial Aid Award from your college or university
  • Transcript, including Spring 2024 grades, which shows your cumulative GPA 
  • Fall 2024 Schedule 

If you faced academic challenges and your cumulative GPA has fallen below the 2.5 threshold for this award, please submit your renewal application and reach out directly to Heather Hokunson to discuss your progress.

Payment Information

Most scholarships are paid out in two installments, half in the fall and half in the spring. It is your responsibility to supply the necessary documents to receive your payments. All required documents must be uploaded through our online Scholarship Portal. You will receive an email with instructions on how to submit the required information for each semester. Screenshots from your school website, or unofficial transcripts, are accepted.

Fall Semester Payments

  1. Online Scholarship Agreement 
  2. Fall Schedule and Financial Aid Award from your college or university (New recipients)

Spring Semester Payments

  1. Your fall grade report and
  2. Your course schedule for the spring.

 
If you have any questions about your GPA or enrollment please call Heather Hokunson at (860) 612-4291. If the Foundation does not receive confirmation of your continued enrollment by March 1, the second installment of your scholarship may be withdrawn.

Graduate School Scholarships

A small number of graduate school scholarships are awarded only to past ASF Scholars. Applications are accepted from students pursuing a graduate degree in education, social work, human services, or a related field. Priority is given to students who are attending graduate school within the state of Connecticut. 

Scholars must submit an online Graduate School Application by June 15, 2024 to be considered for a 2024-2025 award. 

Required Documents: 

  • 2024-2025 FAFSA Submission Summary (instructions here)
  • Loan History from FAFSA (instructions here)
  • 2024-2025 Financial Aid Award from your college or university
  • Transcript, including Spring 2024 grades, which shows your cumulative GPA 
  • 1 Letter of recommendation
